You are on a great edge if you know how to change gears in tournaments. If you know how to, you can mislead other players about your objective and eventually get a lot of chips from them. However, knowing how to change gears in tournament is complicated. It is often associated with convincing bluffing but then it is far more complicated as there is speed involved. Well, although complicated, it is something that will bear great fruits later. So it is all worth giving consideration.

Knowing how to change gears can really help when you are up a steady table, changing stack sizes, lesser actions, and varying stages.

At times, a table will just go steady. Thus, whenever this situation pops up, try to apply your knowledge on how to change gears. Try to pull in some more chips. If you get lucky, you will collect a lot of chips later.

Also, sometimes, your stack size will change. It can get smaller or bigger. If in case it gets bigger, try to take advantage of this. You might later get an enormous stack that will help you in case you want to play in the final table.

At some point, you will get lesser actions involving your hands. When this occurs, consider slowing down. You might be too tight already, most especially if your bluffs are being called down. Consider all possibilities.

Finally, with varying stages, knowing how to change gears is significant. At first stages, you can play tight but at later stages or you are near to the money, you can shift to high gear to pull together great results. Just try to assess everything. Consider the situation and the odds and you will know how you should play. Just be sensitive and open your eyes and mind.

You should take risk and gamble when you play Poker, but you must know when. Naturally, you can take risk and gamble when probabilities or odds are on your side. You can also take risk and gamble if you are up for some big hands. And you can also take risk and gamble when happenings at the table are great.

Well, in case probabilities or odds are on your side, there’s no problem with you taking risk and gambling. But you must check very well these probabilities or odds. Even just a little mistake in understanding these probabilities or odds can cause you big bucks.

For big hands, well, they are worth the risk and the gamble. Go and gamble for some hands that will improve or strengthen your bankroll. Gamble for hands like backdoor flush draws, gutshot draws, two pair or set. They can give you the pot.

When the happenings at the poker table are good, then you can also take risk and gamble. Say it seems like your opponents are getting bad cards and you are up for some good hands, you can take risk and gamble. Also, when one of your great rivals is going on tilt, you can take risk and gamble. Players on tilt can’t make good and sound decisions and clouded with so many things and filled with so many emotions. Hence, you can take advantage of the situation and eventually make it big. But of course, still, you must be careful. Although happenings are good, they can easily turn bad most especially if you make some bad moves or decisions. Before your take risk and gamble, plan out very well how you should behave at the poker table. Consider everything most especially the odds and probabilities. They really matter in the game Poker.

It is important that you have an idea when are the best times to leave the poker table. Doing so can sometimes spare you from trouble of losing big part of your bankroll. Thus, if up to this point you are still clueless about these best times, see what we have provided below.

Leaving the Table When Already Losing

When one seems to lose, it is best that he or she would just leave the poker table. But of course, odds should be considered.

Leaving when already losing is never a sign of being discouraged or afraid. More often than not, it is a sign of being intelligent. Although leaving when already losing will already cost some bucks, at least there’ll be some left. If the odds tell it is a defeat, it is better to leave than risk losing more money in the end.

Leaving the Table When Already Winning

Many pros believe that when one is already winning, he or she can leave the poker table. When already ahead, leaving can be beneficial most especially if working out on a tight bankroll. Every win can be very important to a dying bankroll. Even little wins matter.

Leaving the Table Because of Other Reasons

Sometimes it is not a sufficient reason to leave because already losing or winning. As you decide to play you must already know the consequences and you must be prepared for whatever outcome of your every game, you just have to take risk. Aside from leaving, you still actually have other option in case you are losing or winning. You can actually stay even if you are losing, same thing when you are winning. If losing, you can stay if there’s enough reason like there is something else you can get, but otherwise you can leave. Same thing when winning.

It is best to change your style of play once in awhile. Do something new and unexpected to scare away your opponents at the poker table. Learn to take risk as it is only in taking risk that you will succeed.

Say on the flop comes up AsKs9d and at the turn there’s Js. Latter has the potential for drawing a flush or a straight so it is a scare card. Typically, if you are not in a good position, you will check. You might also decide to raise as soon as possible on the basis of the cards on the board.

Aside from checking if you are in a good position or raising on the basis of cards on the board, you can try doing some other things. But of course you must consider the odds and the types of opponents you are up against with.

You can try confusing your opponents. Early in the game, you can call a bluff. But bluff should be strong enough to get found out. Have the goal of making it at showdown so your opponents could see you were just plainly bluffing and almost enjoying.

All throughout the game, your opponents will think that you are just a bluffer and for it they can raise and re-raise as long as they like which can really be a great help in increasing the size of the pot.

To strengthen the pot, try to keep your opponents playing. But of course, this is only possible if you have a pretty strong hand or the nuts. However be careful. Think things through. Although you need to get an edge to make it and win, you still have to widely open your understanding and your eyes to the situation at the table. Consider the cards and the opponents you are up against with.

Poker is both a mind game and a skill game. To be able to beat the game, player must be wise and skillful enough. Although luck plays a role in every poker game, still the success or failure of every poker game will still depend on the player’s understanding on how to become a winning player.

Poker is a game which is much influenced by the cards that are being dealt to players. Thus, for a player to beat the game, he or she must be able to make plans or strategies based on the cards. But on the flip side, he or she must not also give his or her focus or attention to cards alone. Player must also consider the odds, by which are related to cards of course.

Beating the game would be so easy if only odds would be considered or given importance.

Odds could tell if a player will make it or not. Thus, every player must know how to read the odds and check if odds are on his or her side or actually on his or her opponents’ side. For an instance on a post-flop situation, considering the cards on the board and hole cards, what would be chances of his or her cards beating everybody else’s cards, that player must know. Same thing if what are the chances that his or her opponents have a better hand than him or her.

Well, calculating the odds can be so simple and just needs elementary math. But of course odds should be carefully calculated. To calculate the odds, player just have to divide the number of ideal outcomes by the number of probable outcomes. And the basic thing to be remembered is that there are four suits in a deck of 52 cards.

It is very dangerous for you to be predictable at the poker table. If good and experienced players come along and play with you, you’ll surely be on a very challenging situation. Good and experienced players may have the potential to read your moves and eventually plan out on having some counter measures to keep you away from the pot. Thus, it is very important that you always try not to be predictable. Ty to have some strategies applicable on various situations and try to surprise everyone at the table with new moves.

At the table, unpredictability can be your secret weapon. But for your weapon to be effective, you must try to work on things out early. Also, try to observe your opponents very well. Observe what hands they like playing and don’t like playing. Observe how do they react under certain situations and what type of player most probably they are. Having an idea on these things will somehow give you hints as to how your opponents will play against you.

Nonetheless, unpredictability can be your secret weapon at the poker table. It will certainly move and act against all expectations and plans of your opponents.

However, although it can really help that you are unpredictable and have that unpredictability weapon, you also need to set some rules and balance things out. Watch out and be sure to be unpredictable the right way. Never reach the point where your being unpredictable and your common sense would mix up. You still need to have a basic theory and just shift from one strategy to another strategy.

Also, you still need to consider essential things at the table like in particular the cards. Base your strategy on your cards. Odds should also be considered as well as playing styles of your opponents at the poker table.

The odds in a Poker game can actually be hard to compute. However, nowadays, computing won’t be much of a problem anymore as you can always get yourself a Poker odds calculator. You must know that the odds dictate your decisions in many situations when in a Poker game, and so you can’t afford to ignore computing your odds.

A Poker odds calculator is an efficient, great tool that would calculate your odds as soon as you attach it to your online poker game. It will display the strength of the poker hands you have. It will also calculate your poker odds and compares them to the odds of your best opponent at the table. If it is of high-quality, it will give you great advices on the spot.

At present, one of the Poker odds calculators you can try is the Texas Calculatem. It has a hand-strength barometer which allows you to see how strong your hand is compared to the possible hands that it might be up against along the way. And it is also supported by a lot of poker sites and so you can always make use of it. You can use it in most poker sites online. It is also not about cheating and so it is also safe to use.

There are some other odds calculators that you can check out online. Most are for free and easy to use. However, just be sure to check, before downloading most especially if for free, that there are no messy attachments that contain spyware, viruses or the like. Of course, you don’t like your computer to be harmed as this would also mean discomfort on your part. You need a computer in a good running condition to be able to play without any hang-ups or hassle.

In Texas Holdem, to be able to make the right action you should have the knowledge on how to do some simple mathematical calculations like calculation of pot odds. For an instance, you need to have an extra card to get your hand and to do this you need to know how much is the pot offering and compare it to the amount you have to pay. Nonetheless, this would mean that you must have the knowledge on how to calculate the pot odds.

To start out, you must know some basic terms like outs, odds, and pot odds. First, understand what an out is. Well, basically, it is any unseen card which if drawn, will improve a hand of a player who is likely to win. Then next, understand the odds of getting one of the outs. This is actually not complicated as to get the odds of getting one of the outs, you just have to divide the number of outs by the number of cards you haven’t seen yet. And finally, understand the pot odds role in being able to make right decision. Pot odds are the ratio of the present size of the pot to the cost of a call to be made. If pot odds can be calculated correctly, player can ascertain if the pot is big enough to be called say for an instance when a certain hand should be improved to win. For better understanding, consider the situation wherein the pot is $100 and after the Turn, your opponent bets $50. Then say to win $150 you need to pay $50. On your call, you get 3 to 1 odds.

Being able to do some simple mathematical calculations won’t be that simple but with much patience, in time you’ll surely get the hang of it.

It is very important that you know your odds say for winning a certain hand. However, knowing your odds for winning a certain hand won’t be that simple. To help you out, here are some pre-flop situations of various hand match-ups that will occur during play and the percentages that one hand will win over other hands. Get a grasp in knowing your odds.

Pair vs. Higher Cards

Getting a pre-flop pair is a good thing than getting AK, AQ, or the like. But they have plenty of options in the deck that could beat a mid-range to low pair. And yet still, they could get something from the deck to beat you. Nonetheless, a pair say for an instance 10’s will beat AK 55% of the time in a match-up.
Higher Pair vs. a Lower Pair

Higher pair will most likely win than a lower pair, unless you are playing low hand variations. The percentage that the higher pair will win over a lower pair is 80% of the time basically in a heads-up match-up.

One Higher Card, One Lower Card vs. Two In-Between

It is a common happening at the table that a player will get a one higher card and one lower card. This maybe surprising to know but player with one higher card and one lower card has great chances of winning 55% of the time particularly if up against a player with two in-between. Having one higher card and one lower card will pay off a lot more.

Two Higher Cards vs. Two Lower Cards
